this is the author's webpage of AMICBASE, which is an computer database about antimicrobial activities of pharmaceutical drugs and of compounds occurring in nature. AMICBASE - Essential Oils 2007 (ISBN 978-3-9811485-0-3) is a small database on antimicrobial properties of essential oils, which schedules results of scientific examinations on the antimicrobial activities of essential oils from literature up to the year 1993. This collection of data was done during university time and is now made available. It includes information on the most important essential oils, but also contains studies on rare plants.

AMICBASE - Essential Oils contains 1.814 records, number of essential oils (plants) is 498 (see plant list) and number of references cited therein is 260. The antibacterial and antifungal properties of essential oils are evaluated on a scale of 0 to 4. Among microorganisms it is distinguished between bacteria, molds (filamentous fungi) and yeasts (yes/no field). The microbiological testing method is characterized: agar dilution test, serial dilution test and agar diffusion test (yes/no field). The data is informative for food industry and users interested in natural medicine.
